Earl E. Hensel, age 93 of Madison, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Born April 17, 1921 in Cuyahoga Falls to Bernice C. (Dodge) & Ernest Hensel. He married Mary "Mae" C. Zakrajsek in Madison on September 26, 1966. Earl was the Camp Director & Ranger at Camp Stigwandish for the Boy Scouts of America for over 24 years. He was a 1939 graduate of Madison Memorial High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army Medical Corps. Earl was a volunteer fireman and EMT for Station #3 in Madison. He served on the Board of Supervisors of the Lake Soil and Water Conservation District for 15 years. Earl received numerous Scouting and Conservation awards, including induction in the Ohio State Conservation Hall of Fame. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, woodcarving, nature and gardening, as well as spending time with his wife, family, friends and people in general. He is survived by his daughter, Judith Booth of Madison; grandchildren, Sharla (Gary) Brown of Madison, Joe Booth of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Holly (Carl) Hinderer of Grafton, OH and Brian Booth of Madison; great-grandchildren, Brittney, Derek, Adam, Hannah, Carl, Kelle nephew, Ed Kuhn and his caregivers, Sissy & Shirley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Hensel in 2001; granddaughter, Carva Booth; parents; brother, Harry Hensel and nephew, Bobby Hensel. Friends will be received 2-6 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2014 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 21, 2014 at Central Congregational Church, 71 Park Street, Madison, Ohio. Final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
