Doctor with a big heart
Dr. Emy Mallick left this life quietly in her sleep but its suddenness gave her scholars and their parents in rural Indang in the Philippines a jolt of sadness and a great sense of loss.
Several years before her passing, she offered to sponsor the scholarship of eight school children in our rural private school. The scholarship provided scholars with free tuition fees and the benefit of quality education in a private institution. Happy with the thought of helping rural school children break free from the yolk of poverty via the gift of education, she decided to increase her scholarship support to 12.
At the time of her passing, Dr. Mallick left 12 grieving scholars whose parents join our faculty and staff in praying for the eternal repose of her soul. She will be remembered for her generosity and the care that she had for the rural poor.
In life, she amplified the virtues of humility and charity which she took on from her late father Sixto Clemente, a prominent civic leader in her hometown of Paranaque.
In death, she left a legacy of generosity in our school, particularly in the heart and mind of the scholars whose families she had touched. She had wished for them the gift of quality education and a bright future.
As we see it in school, she gave them a good headstart: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
We, at Holy Family School of Indang in the Philippines, thank the good Lord for giving us the privilege of crossing paths with Dr. Mallick. We felt God’s love through her. We also express our sincerest condolences to her family, with prayers for peace and unity.
