Dorthene "Dot" Spiesman

Dorthene "Dot" Spiesman, age 88 of Madison, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Lantern of Madison. Born, December 20, 1925 in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of Essie (Ruple) & James Arnold Gammon. She married George Robert Spiesman, Jr. in Charlotte, NC on February 19, 1943.
Dot was a tremendous baker and talented candy maker. She was an inspiration to many in her family. Dot was a world traveler and enjoyed her trips from NC to Europe. She also loved her trips to Vegas where she enjoyed the slots. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Terry) Patti of Madison; grandchildren, Shannon (Craig) Chapman of Austin, TX, Jami (Matthew) Curl of Portland, OR, Heather (Rob) Hayes, Hookset, NH; great-grandchildren, Theo Curl, Luci Chapman, Isabel Hayes, Lillian Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, James Arnold Spiesman; parents; siblings, Ronald Gammon, Arnold Gammon and Connie Campbell Clark.
Friends will be received 12:30 – 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUENRAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Barbara Holzhauser, Spiritual Care Coordinator for Hospice of the Western Reserve will officiate.
