Dorothy Marie Crofoot

Dorothy Marie Crofoot, age 92, of Painesville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at The Cottage Group Home in Painesville. She was born May 26, 1932 in Painesville, the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Leimbach) Dewey. She married Merwin Crofoot in Madison on February 10, 1951.

Dorothy worked at the Lake County Nursery for 14 years. She enjoyed her Monday night bingo games, but she loved passionately the time she spent at the casino. Dorothy was always keeping her hands active crocheting and making afghans, and she loved her grand and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a wonderful caregiver for her husband, Merwin, over many years, preceding his passing, and her wonderful dog, Roxie

She is survived by her children, Larry Crofoot, Christina (Lynn) Stephens, Harry “Buck” (Cheryl) Crofoot; grandchildren, Lisa (Ryan) Mangan and Jayme (Kyle) Skoczen, Christy Mason, Ross Hughes, Deresa (Larry) Keener; great grandchildren, Jack, Elsie, Leresa, Amanda, Brittany, Erica, Ross, Reda, Steve, Stephanie; 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Merwin; her parents, Harold and Elsie; sisters, Florence Easterbrook and Frieda Newberry; daughter-in-law, Teresa Crofoot; and grandson, Dwayne Hughes.

A Graveside Service will be 1pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Madison Village.

The Crofoot family will be forever grateful to the ladies who cared for Dorothy over the last 2 years, and the team at Hospice of the Western Reserve. Contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
