Dorothy Kobus, age 83, of Perry, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 13, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Jablonski) Stiehl. She married Eugene Kobus on August 13th, 1960 in Pittsburgh. Dorothy worked as a secretary for the Painesville Fire Department for over 20 years, and took great pride in her work. She had an amazing and sarcastic sense of humor, and loved to take trips to the casino. Her children and family were one of her greatest passions in life. She was also an active member of St. Cyprians Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Kobus; children, Christopher (Tammi Brown) Kobus, Steven (Carrie) Kobus, Kathryn (Bryan Keener) Garden, Geno (Cheryl) Kobus; brother, Albert Stiehl; grandchildren, Matthew, Ben, Samantha, Allyson, Michaela, Tyler, Miranda, Lexi, Alan and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Mallory, Emma, Daniel and Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Shirley McManus. Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Ridge Road in Perry.  Burial will immediately follow at Perry Cemetery.   1. So sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She was certainly the epitome of what a great secretary should be. When my kids were little, and visited the station, Dorothy would set them on her lap at her desk, taking their tiny fingers and showing them how to type their names. She always made sure they left with handfuls of candy.
    I will always remember her “Stillers” and :Yins” in her “Pittsburgheese and the ruler she kept in her desk drawer that she would “threaten to smack our hands with” when we got out of line. She was a wonderful lady and a great co-worker. She made out job easier with her ability and efficiency in her job. May God bless her and her family. Our condolences and prayers.
