Doris I. Lewis

Doris I. Lewis, Age 91, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 Saybrook Landing in Ashtabula, Ohio. Born April 10, 1920 in Ashtabula, to Edith (Sparling) & Herman Bowdler Doris was a Registered Nurse for 59 years For several years Doris taught LPN training and worked as a nurse for True Temper and most recently for Glen Beigh. As a County Health Nurse she helped to organize a regular blood pressure clinic at the Township Fire Station. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Ashtabula branch of the American Cancer Society and she sat on the Deacon Board for the Prospect Presbyterian Church. A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, nothing pleased Doris more than being with her family. For the past several years she was able to wrap her family in love as she hand crafted over 300 afghans. She was full of fun and laughter, wit and wisdom, great strength and courage, and most of all her love of family. Her memory will be forever in the hearts of those whom she loved and to those who returned her love. She is survived by Daughters, Kay (Mel) Keener of Saybrook, OH, Elizabeth Betty (John) Lueders of Rock Creek, OH; Son, William Bill (Beth) Kemmer of Concord, OH; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Howard Bowdler of Las Vegas, NV; Sister, Gerry Woodruff of Concord, OH. She was preceded in death by her first Husband William Gale Kemmer in 1964 and Her second Husband Al Lewis in 1973; Her Parents; Sisters, Donna Miller & Marian Kellogg; Brother, Donald Bowdler Graveside Service will be 2pm Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Orwell Cemetery, Orwell, Ohio.
