Donald R Covell, age 83 of Geneva passed away as the sun was rising on Tuesday August 15, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 10, 1933 to Russell and Mary Jean (Kendall) Covell. Don married Helen A. Yelcho on December 28, 1957. Don was born in Geneva and was a graduate of the Class of 51. He served in the Army from 1956-1958 and was stationed in Alaska. He worked at True-Temper from 1961-1980 and was an Ironworker until he retired in 1996. He was a member of Assumption Church, life long member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Iron Workers Local #17. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, going to his grandchildrens school events, he was a fan of all sports particularly the Cleveland Indians and Cavilers. Don enjoyed working in his Gardens especially his flower garden, tinkering with new technology, spending the summers at Kenisee Campgrounds, but most importantly he was generous of his time with his family and friends. Don had an amazing out-look on life as well as an infectious laughter and friendship. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Russell & Mary Covell and brother, William Covell. He is survived by his children; Mary K. (John) Mattern, Barbara Covell, Carol (Nick) Carlisle, Patricia (Brian) Warring, Robert (Paula), Christine (Fred) Kisiday, Donald J (Veneta) and Kara (Kim) Calhoon; 18 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandsons and 1 step-great-grandson; his brother, Glenn (Dorothy) Covell; sister, Joyce Zigmont; and sisters-in-law, Gay Covell and Sr. Mary Jacob Yelcho. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH on Friday, August 18. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19 at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 W. Main Street, Geneva OH. Fr. Daniel Finnerty will officiate.
