Donald R. Burke

Donald R. Burke, age 82, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013. He was born June 10, 1931 in Maynard, OH to Nellie (Ray) & John S. Burke and married Janice Moffatt in Byesville, OH on February 15, 1957. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked as a foreman at Morton Salt retiring in 1996. He also worked for Brotzman Nursery and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Madison. Donald had a passion for building everything, from detailed models, to his own home. With a well-worn Bible, he enjoyed his time spent each day in prayer. He is survived by daughter, Carol (James) Schmidt of Oak Forest, IL; sons, Joseph (Ramona) Burke of Mentor, OH & Ron Burke of Madison; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Stephanie, Andrew, Leah, Donald, Joe Jr., Mallory, Mikayla and Ben; sisters, Sara Jane Louk of West Virginia, Gladys Burch of FL & Edna E. Hockenbury of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Burke; parents; sister, Lois Conley; brothers, James, Glenn, Bob, and Clyde Burke; infant sister, Jackie. Friends will be received 6-9 PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Funeral service will be 10 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Calvary Fellowship Baptist Church, 717 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, OH 44077. Pastor Doug Reeder will be officiating. Final resting place will be at North Madison Cemetery in Madison. Contributions may be made in Donald's name to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
