Donald J. Gerken

Donald J. Gerken, Age 89, of Geneva, Ohio formerly of Toledo, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center in Geneva, Ohio. Born April 26, 1921 in Defiance Ohio to Pluma (Astry) and Henry Gerken he married Marjorie E. Simendinger on February 15, 1948 in Defiance. Donald retired from the Campbell Soup Company where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor He was a U S Army veteran who served during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 587 Conn-Weissenberger Chapter of Toledo. Donald had a deep appreciation for American history and was always up on current events. A man a few words he lived his life by example and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by Daughter, Donna Gerken of Toledo; Sons, Mick (Lynn) Gerken of Florida, Timothy (Janelle) Gerken of New Mexico, Philip (Kerry) Gerken of Geneva; 7 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie E. Gerken; his parents, Grandson Jeremy Gerken and 3 Sisters: Marjorie, Maxine, and Winifred Graveside Service will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Toledo Memorial Park and Mausoleum 6382 Monroe Street in Sylvania, Ohio Contributions may be made to Ashtabula Regional Home Health.
