Donald E. Rogers, Age 79, of Perry, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at home. He was born May 2, 1931, to Dorothy (Nash) & Clifford J. Rogers on a dairy farm in Leroy, Ohio & lived on a dairy farm in Austinburg, Ohio. He graduated from Harvey High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea. His service in the Air Force was responsible for his education with aerial camera repair & photography. After serving 4 years in the service, he was discharged in 1955 and then went to work for Fasson, later known as Avery Dennison, where he retired after 38 years of service. In 1992, he received the Technical Directors? Career Award from Avery Dennison. His career at Avery allowed him to work next to some of the smartest technical people in the world. He was a lifetime member of American Murray Grey Association. He also was a member of the Ohio Sheep Association. He participated in the Farmer?s Market at Painesville and made many friends. Upon retirement, he devoted all his time to farm related activities, Farm Bureau member and member of the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Lightner) Rogers of Perry; Daughter, Sandra Rogers of San Francisco, CA; Stepchildren, Linda (Eugene) Warfield & Daniel Hill; Granddaughter, Cynthia Gilbert; Great-Grandchildren, Cameron & Landon; Brother, William Rogers. Preceded in death by his Parents; Step-father, Frank Wayner & Step-daughter, Karen Hill Gilbert. Friends will be received 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Friday, May 21, 2010, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the funeral home with the Rev. Janet Mers, of Perry Christian Church, officiating. Final Resting Place will be Perry Cemetery, Perry, Ohio. Contributions may be made to Lake County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund, 53-B East Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076.
