Donald D. Drought, 83 of Geneva, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home. Born December 20, 1931 in Geneva he was the son of the late Archie and Muriel (Paskins) Drought. He married Beverly Anchor at The United Church in Geneva on June 7, 1951.
A 1950 graduate of Geneva High School Don retired from Uniroyal in 1994 where he worked as a Chemical Operator for 37 years. He worked for over 50 years as a broker and agent for Miller Realty in Geneva and Jefferson. He was a lifelong member of the United Church in Geneva where he played an active role, serving as a Trustee and Moderator. He was proud to be involved with the Masonic Lodge in Geneva for over 60 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also involved with the Geneva JC's from 1953 to 1968 where he held every office position. Always smiling, Don had an extraordinary work ethic and was known by his grandchildren as Mr. Fixit. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly; daughter: Dawn (William) Schneeberger of South Euclid; sons: Barry (Michele Hartman) Drought of Roaming Shores and Dr. Daniel (Cindy) Drought of Geneva; grandchildren: Michael (Katherine) Schneeberger, Phillip (Dana) Schneeberger, Heather (Paul) Detweiler, Steven (Jennifer) Drought, Emily and Tyler Drought; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Xavier, Jada, and Aiden; brother: Theodore Drought of Geneva; daughter-in-law: Gayle (Tom) Sackett of Geneva; brother-in-law: Richard Anchor and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Robert (Mary Ann) Drought; sisters-in-law: Frances Drought, and Barbara Anchor.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva with Masonic Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at The United Church, 75 South Broadway in Geneva. Final resting place will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
