Deborah Caswell
February 27, 1955 ~ September 5, 2024
Deborah Louise Caswell (Samuels) passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2024 at home. She was born February 27, 1955 in Painesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Bill and Burneta Samuels. A 1973 graduate of Madison High School. She attended Lakeland Community College, taking business courses prior to becoming employed as a mail carrier at the United States Post Office in Madison, Ohio. She retired just short of 30 years of service due to complications from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She lived a full life after recovering from the cancer until a completely different cancer, pancreatic/ampullary, was discovered in June of 2023. After treatment she appeared to have beaten the cancer in February of 2024. Unfortunately, the cancer metastasized in March of this year. Deborah loved to travel, driving out west with her hubby for nearly 40 days in the fall of 2014. She also took numerous trips to Florida, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas and Tennessee, amongst many other trips. She loved her flowers and always kept an immaculate home, inside and out. She was loved by most everyone and was an excellent dancer-she had the rhythm. She loved her music and was a member of the awesome and worldwide, Kiss Army, the fan tribute group for the greatest rock band in the land KISS. She loved life, and felt so helpless as it slipped away.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She is survived by the love of her life, Clem, who she married on October 1, 1988 in Thompson, Ohio; daughter, Kimberly (Chad) Burgard; son, Ryan; sister, Donna (Michael) Kellison; brothers, Michael and Gregory Samuels; and best friend for over 65 years, Carol Tersigni. She also leaves behind the greatest grandkids ever, Emma and Jackson Burgard. She was a fixture at nearly every one of their soccer, baseball, basketball, football, track and volleyball games. She also departs from many nieces and nephews. When something didn’t go as planned, in exasperation she would often say “Piffle”. Her favorite saying was “Lord Willing and the creek don’t rise”.
To all of those who loved our dear Deborah, we would request a donation be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, PO Box 72101, Cleveland, Ohio 44192. They were her true Guardian Angels in her final weeks and days.

Your smile, love and laughter will be missed by so many. We love you!
My heart is aching tonight and my thought and prayers are with Kim, Chad, Emma, Jackson and the rest of Debbie’s family. I met Debbie at Jazzercise many years ago. Everyone loved Debbie as she was always so happy and positive. She genuinely cared about everyone in her Jazzercise family and was excited to hear about what was going on in each of our lives. She rarely missed a Jazzercise class but when she did, we always knew it was because Emma had a game or other significant event in her life. Her face would just light up when she talked about her grandchildren. We would never know if Debbie wasn’t feeling good because of her positive attitute and the fight that she had in her. She was truly an inspiration to me and so many others. She touched my life and I will always have the most wonderful memories of her. I’m praying that God will comfort her family during this difficult time. We love you Debbie!
Deb was a true friend and a great person. I’ve seen her frustration and perseverance, her love and laughter, but most of all, I remember her kindness and the gift of embracing life and living it in the best way anyone could hope to live. She had an infectious laugh, the ability to stand taller than everyone (even though she struggled to be 5 ft. tall in stature) and a gentle way of describing things (you know what I mean?). Deb’s the reason I was able to figure out how to do my job and keep it for almost 33 years. We’ve been friends for almost 38 years, not just on the job, but outside of work at various family and friends events. Deb and Clem invited our family to their wedding and my daughters both called her “Pretty Debbie Who Got Married” from then on. She made that kind of an impression to a 7 and 5 year old. They were right, though. She was beautiful, inside and out!
Hoping time brings peace. With our utmost compassion, Tim and Laura Carrick
Went to school with Debbie. Have not seen her in years but have good memories of her. She was the first gal I had ever seen who rolled her hair in juice cans! Condolences to her family and friends.
“My Debbie” is what I call her. Imagine 65 years with that girl. We lived our lives together since we were 5 years old. She was my everything in every sense of the word. She is my family, her family is my family. And oh yeah, when it came to Emma and Jackson, they were first and foremost before anything. She has been telling me for 20 years “you wait until you have grand kids, you’ll see exactly what I mean”. She was so right!
I’m missing you so much my whole body aches. I certainly hope there is a time when we will be together again. I was taught to believe it so it better be true.
I Love You To The Moon and Back !!! Please watch over us all.
Love you, Carol Jane
I am so shocked and saddened to read of Debby’s passing. We graduated together from Madison. She was always happy and full of energy.
My prayers to her husband and family. May God’s love help you through this very painful time.
I’ll forever miss yelling “Hi grandma, Hi Jackson!” from the mailbox when you would be over at Emma’s. Thank you for all of the laughs, hugs and sweet memories. I’ll always miss you. Thank you for being the best grandma to my best friend. ❤️
You were there for me when I was just a kid. I will never forget it
Kim – my heart hurts for you and your family. Although I never met your Mom, I know she was an exemplary human being…all I have to do is look at the wonderful daughter and cherished friend of mine she raised! Much love and prayers for you and your family.
xoxoxoxo ALWAYS

Ryan,
I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the privilege of meeting your mom but watching you with the students at Spectrum speaks volumes to the amazing man she raised. I will hold your family up in prayer for the strength needed in the upcoming days.
So sorry to see this.
Although we haven’t seen Debbie in years, we haven’t forgotten her.
Our deepest sympathies to Clem and family.
