Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I had Mr. Foote when I was in junior high school. I thought he was a great teacher. Always pleasant and he had a positive attitude.

  2. Mr Foote was a generous, sweet man and his 4 boys followed in his footsteps. Our sincerest sympathy to Mrs Foote, their sons and their families.

  3. I have difficulty remembering anything of my early childhood before Dave Foote became a fixture in it. And from that early childhood, though adulthood, he influenced, guided and supported me in more ways than he realized or that I could adequately describe.

Neither he nor my father had any siblings but became like brothers to each other. And during that inevitable adolescent phase when a young man and his father have difficulty sharing the same space, the relationship between Dave and my father was often the influence that calmed the troubled waters. I looked up to him.

My family was a stable one – a stability greatly reinforced by the closeness that my Mother and father shared with Shirley and Dave. They taught school together, they campaigned for election together, they worshiped and evangelized together, they vacationed together, they formed and ran businesses together. And nearly every Saturday night when I would come home from a date with the girl I fell in love with, I would be greeted by the four of them, sitting at the kitchen table, playing cards together.

Dave loved my family. Dave certainly loved his family. But more than any other person on the planet, Dave loved Shirley. Theirs may very well have been the exception to the rule that no marriage is perfect.

We Christians believe that this grief is temporary, that we will all be eventually wondrously reunited. In the meantime, the lump in our throat and the tears in our eyes are real, and I will miss him terribly.

  4. Dave Foote was a cherished person to the Dempsey family as he spent hours tutoring our brother Rick. Rick had a disease that kept him home with no walking and Dave Foote came over to help Rick pass his school year. My condolences to all the Foote family.

  5. My sincere sympathy to all for the loss of your wonderful husband and father, who was such a good friend to my husband and I as well as Shirley who we love so much!

  6. Dear Shirley and family. I have so many wonderful memories of Dave and your family. You were all a wonderful blessing for me. He gave so much to the area. I can’t thank him enough for helping me grow and stand up for our community. Thank you. Prayers and peace for all of you.
