David M. Skytta, age 71, lost his battle with cancer and peacefully passed away at Cardinal Woods Nursing Home in Madison on May 2, 2016. David was born on April 7, 1945 in Painesville to John E. and Sarah A. (Morgan) Skytta. He lived most of his life in Fairport Harbor and was a proud graduate of Harding High School with the Class of 1963. That same year, he joined the U. S. Air Force and in those four years, served in Germany, Thailand and Viet Nam. Soon upon returning home, he became a Policeman with Painesville City. His career as a Police Officer was cut short due to an injury received on the job and he was forced into retirement. For many years, he was a counselor with the AA Program and sponsored many people. He was also an avid photographer. David is survived by his daughter, Traci Miller and her husband Tim, of Painesville, granddaughter, Marissa and grandsons, Jarod and Dane; sister, Donna Lesiacsek of Concord Township, and brothers, Donald R. (Janet) of Madison, and Jon R. (Brigette) of Charlotte, NC. Nephews, Robert, Richard, Jeffrey (Roxanne) Lesiacsek and Samuel Skytta and Nieces, Debra Waldron, Diane Adams and Emilie Skytta. Seven great nephews and one great niece also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Loius Lesiacsek. Thank you to the staff of Cardinal Woods and to Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care. Graveside service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Fairport Harbor. Pastor Larry Mackey will officiate the service.
