David A. North, age 73, of Madison passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Cleveland surrounded by his loving family.
David was born in East Cleveland on March 7, 1951 to John and Lillian North. He joined the Marine Corp after graduating from Wickliffe High School. He served honorably and was always proud of all his fellow Marines.
David married the love of his life Ruth (Shook) on October 12, 1985, in Painesville. David remained a devoted and loving husband from that day forward. Ruth loved his adventurous nature, love of travel, and easy-going nature. He was supportive and dedicated bonus parent to Paula ( Ken) Lynch, and Rick (Tami) Davis.
David otherwise known as Pa was a loving and affectionate grandparent of five, Tad (Alexis) Davis, Rikki (Nate) Rice, Robbi (Jake) Steigner, Benjamin, (Kaitlin) Lynch, and Kesley (Mark) Giffin, and great grandparent of 7, Charlee, Kamdyn, Mila, Easton, Porter, Eliza, and Riley. David truly enjoyed time with his family and was always proud to celebrate every milestone.
David had many hobbies over the years. Most of all he enjoyed the beauty of nature and took part in many outdoor activities including sailing, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, and golf. David enjoyed spending time with friends and colleagues joining and volunteering for many teams and organizations in his lifetime.
David’s most recent activities included participating and competing in many events sponsored by the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). He won numerous metals at the Buckeye Games and National Wheelchair Games, taking part in bowling, bocce, air rifle, and power soccer. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and family at the family cabin playing cards and relaxing by the fire.
David is survived by his sister Kathy. He is preceded in death by parents John and Lillian North and brother, John North Jr.
There will be a celebration of life held at the American Legion Post 601, 1725 Hubbard Rd, Madison, OH 44057, on Sunday December 8th from 2-7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Paralyzed Veterans of America, 2775 Bishop Rd, Suite B, Willoughby, OH 44092.
