Darinka A. Debevc

Darinka A. Debevc, 87, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center. Born February 3, 1922 in Nove Kot, Slovenia, to Maria (Pruseck) & Alphonso Komel She came to America in 1952 with her family and helped establish the family vineyard. She graduated from Kent State as a RN and worked at Geneva Hospital for many years and then went on to become Director of Nursing at various nursing homes. She helped establish the Slovenian Folk Dancers and was a member of the Lipa Singers. She was a loving mother to all her children and grandchildren and was especially kind to her animals. She was especially proud to be an American. She will be sadly missed and her life lessons will be remembered by many. She is survived by Sons, Peter (Janice) Debevc of Harpersfield Twp., OH, Andrej (Patty) Debevc of Geneva, OH & Mark (Kathy)Debevc of Geneva, OH; Grandchildren, Annah (John) Haeseler, Livia (Mark) Brace, Andrea Debevc, Steve Debevc, Mark (Bobbie) Debevc, Jade Debevc, Leo Debevc, Melissa & Melanie; Great-Grandchildren, Johnny, Marcella, Cora, Sarah, Nino & Olivia She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Leopold Debevc & Great-Granddaughter, Meara Sue Brace Graveside Service will be 12:00 noon, Monday, November 23, 2009, at Alexander Harper Cemetery, Unionville with Rev. Suzanne Hill, of Geneva First United Methodist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
