Daniel K. Alexander, 82, of Madison passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
Born December 19, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Zula Margaret (Hickman) & Edward Alexander he married Jean Lanning in Covington, Kentucky on 11/27/1948. They celebrated their 60th anniversary on Thanksgiving Day with their family.
He was an Electrician with I.B.E.W. Local #38 for 60 years
Daniel was a graduate of Willoughby Union High School in 1946. Attended Max S Hayes Trade School and was an Electrical inspector for City of Mentor. Private First Class Daniel K. Alexander, Sr. served in the U.S. Army headquarters and service company 252nd engineer combat battalion and was honorable discharged in 1947. He was a member of The American Legion, Jay Wilson Post 112. He also was a 55 year member and Past Master of Lakeshore Lodge #307 F&AM. Husband, father, grandfather, and Papa. Daniel was caring, honest, giving and he loved to play golf.
He is survived by Wife of 60 years, Jean Alexander of Madison; Daughter, Deborah Melvin of Madison; Son,Daniel K. (Karen) Alexander, Jr. of Geneva;
Grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Orgel, Hope (Ed) Conrad, Heather (Nick) Pellegrino, Kenneth (Kerri) Melvin; Great Grandchildren, Andrew & Kirstan Orgel, Alexis & Nicholas Pellegrino, Morgan & Megan Conrad;
Sister, Margurita Mills of Willoughby Hills
He was preceded in death by His Parents; Brothers, William G. and Edward L. Alexander and Sister, Eileen O?Donnel
Friends will be received 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm Friday, March 27, 2009, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison
Funeral Service will be held 10 am, Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Unionville United Church, 6870 South Ridge, Unionville, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Cunningham officiating.
Final Resting Place will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
