Dallas "Skip" Smith III

Dallas “Skip” Smith, III, 82, of Perry, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the UH Geauga Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born December 6, 1940, in Painesville, Ohio, to Nadine (Frayn) and Dallas Smith, Jr. Skip was a “jack of all trades” who loved working with his hands in his wood shop, cooking, spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle and helping his neighbors. After his retirement from Lincoln Electric in 2003, he discovered his love of golf and he looked forward to being on the course as much as possible. He is survived by his children, Dallas (Donna) Smith, IV, Terry (Jeff) Trobenter, and Tina (Joe) Hart; grandchildren, Chris, Katie (Jason), Kyle (Becca), Dallas V (Kara), Lexi (Eric), Joshua, Taylor, Emma, Tommy, and Daniel; great grandchildren, Jacob, Joey, Elijah, Johnny, Nicco, Lorelai, and Emmett; and his brother, John (Carolyn) Smith. Skip remained close with his former wives, Shirley (Robert) Hines and Nancy Ham, and her children, Erin, Dana, and Myla. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Roberta Weaver; brother, Robert Smith, and beloved dog Beau, who went everywhere with Skip. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Perry Cemetery on Center Road. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-3:30 pm at Sammy K’s Steakhouse at 4706 N Ridge Road in Perry, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Skip’s name to the Lake Humane Society & Adoption Center, 7564 Tyler Boulevard, Bldg. E, Mentor, OH 44060.
