Dale Anderson

November 19, 1956 ~ January 19, 2025
Dale Anderson, age 68, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Despite the pain, Dale stayed strong until the end.
He was born on November 19, 1956 in Ashtabula, the son of Donald and Dorothy (Stevens) Anderson. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1975. He attended Ashtabula County Vocational School where he took up drafting. After graduation, he worked in manufacturing where he was a supervisor and machine operator
Dale had a great love for sports. In his younger years, you could always find him outside practicing baseball. He was always throwing the ball up in the air, practicing hitting or getting his sisters and neighbors together to play a game of baseball. He enjoyed playing baseball in the local leagues and he was nicknamed PeeWee. He enjoyed bowling in a league at Sonny Lanes, golfing with his family and friends, and fishing out on Lake Erie. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. He liked to listen to good old rock and roll. Bob Dylan, Ozzy Osbourne and Tom Petty were a few of his favorites. Dale tried to attend as many sporting events as he could for his nieces and nephews. He was a family man. It meant so much to Dale to watch his grandkids play baseball and basketball. He treasured those times. He was so proud of them. They were his sunshine and he was their hero and best friend. Dale was given the name “Papa” from his grandkids. No other name given to him could compare. Dale and his grandkids were inseparable. The love he had for them was one of a kind. His fight in life was for them to the end.
Family was important to him. He enjoyed the Anderson Christmas parties, and backyard barbeques. He brought his smile and witty sense of humor to the parties. He liked to make people smile and laugh. When going through chemo, he always made the nurses laugh and the hospice nurses also loved his sense of humor. They were so surprised at the energy he had even at the end.
Dale is survived by his sons, Justin (Heidy) and Christopher (Vanessa); grandchildren Carter, Ryleigh, Brody and Johnny; brother, Dan; sisters, Darla (Chuck) Ralph, Donna (Richard) Kusar, Daphne (Matt) Anderson; sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson; companion of 4 years, Debbie Warner; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and David; sister, Dori.
