D. James Brainard

In Loving Memory D. James Brainard, age 77, formerly of Perry and Dorset, Ohio passed away June 29, 2017 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born on October 15, 1939 in Painesville, Ohio and married to Barbara Ann Kelsey on October 22, 1960. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Perry High School. He worked as a carpenter and was the head trouble lineman for CEI before retiring in 1992, leaving him to focus on his passion for raising cattle and swine. Jim leaves behind sons, Thomas (Karen) Brainard and Patrick Brainard; and daughters, Tari (Baron) Medvec, Anne Liddy and Katie Brainard. Papa will be missed by his 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Cassandra, Craig, Patrick, Michael, David, Adam, Caleb, Hannah and Kelsey; and 2 great-grandchildren, Xavier and Cortana. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara; his sister, Becky; parents, Dick and Betty Brainard. He also leaves behind two brothers, Tim and Bill; and sisters, Cathy, Betsy and Debbie. Jims family is grateful to have enjoyed him as the patriarch of his loving family. His children and grandchildren repeat family stories that have become legend and were blessed to create stories of their own with Dad/Papa. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. Friends will be received 10 - 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH.
