September 8, 1955 ~ October 4, 2023

Curtis “Curt” George Stewart, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his home. He was born September 8, 1955 in Corry PA, the son of Joyce Ann (Carr) and George McFarland Stewart. He married Jane Stec on May 30, 1981 in Titusville, PA and they enjoyed 42 beautiful years together. Curt and his family were supported in his final days by Hospice of the Western Reserve. Their compassionate care was invaluable. Curt grew up on the family farm in Centerville, PA and the work ethic of his parents spilled into his own life with everything he did. He graduated from Titusville High School in 1973 and began his lifelong career as a machinist at Grand Valley Manufacturing in Titusville, PA. He continued his hard work until he retired in 2022 from MD&A Bearings, Seals & Hydraulics Division in Euclid, OH. Nothing gave him more joy than when when he was on the old Ford tractor plowing up the fields at the Stewart farm and planting his crops. His passion was planning and planting his vegetable garden: corn, potatoes and squash as well as sunflowers! Curt was known as “Farmer Curt” to his many friends and co-workers. It gave him great joy to share the results of his bucolic endeavors. He loved being outdoors, whether riding his bicycle or just sitting in the backyard watching the birds and squirrels eat the sunflower seeds and peanuts he put out every day. Curt was so very proud of his sons. All are sailors: Matthew is a Merchant Mariner and Andrew and Nathan are in the US Navy. He loved hearing about thier ships and tales of their adventures at sea. Another great joy was the special time he spent with his grandsons. He loved giving them tractor rides, helping them build amazing Lego structures or just sitting and reading books together. Whatever the activity it usually ended with a child in a fit of giggles! Curt is survived by his loving wife, Jane; sons, Matthew (Amelia Walton) Stewart, Andrew Stewart and Nathan Stewart; grandsons Tyler Stewart, Archie, and Lachlan Stewart; siblings Christopher Stewart, Scott (Dina) Stewart, Valerie (Mark) Crabb, Celeste (Jeff) Logsdon, and Nicole (Jim) Hamilton; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick Finn Stewart and his parents. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 11th at Rometown Community Church, 44364 Harrison Rd, Spartansburg, PA 16434. Visiting will be 10:00 am and services to start at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend and share their memories. Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family at this time. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com
