Christopher Mathew Jaskela

Christopher Mathew Jaskela, age 36 of Madison, went to his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Hospice House in Euclid, with his loving and devoted mother at his side. Born June 27, 1977 in Ashtabula, he was the son of Mary Jo (Lyon) & Timothy Jaskela. Chris enjoyed sport activities, beginning in his youth when he participated in the Mentor Youth Hockey League as a goalie for his team. As a teen he played soccer, traveling to Europe as a member of Madison's "British Tour 94" soccer team. Chris was a body building enthusiast spending many hours at he YMCA and Gold's Gym. A 1996 graduate of Madison High School, he enjoyed physically demanding work and was employed as a CNC machinist. Chris loved the outdoors, fishing and hiking but most of all he cherished spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Alexis, Andrew mother, Mary Jo of Madison; uncles, David (Elizabeth) Lyon of Ashtabula, Joseph (Kay) Lyon, Steven (Wanda) Lyon, Jonathan (Sue) Lyon & Tom Jaskela, all of Florida; aunts, Judy (James) Myers & Joyce Jaskela of Ashtabula; cousins, Jennifer (Mark) Adler, Amy Loveridge, David, Andrew, Amanda & Rachael, Lyon, Kyle Nathan, Devon, Siobhan, J.R., Brook, John & Stacy Jaskela. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy in 2012. A memorial service will take place at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the chapel at Stanton Park, 5585 Chapel Road in Madison. A sunset celebration of Christopher's life will immediately follow in the Banquet Hall at the park. The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to all who have been praying for Christopher over the past 20 months. Special thanks go out to his caregivers at Cardinal Woods & Hospice House. But God hath promised strength for the day, rest for the laborer, light for the way, grace for the trials, help from above unfailing sympathy, undying love."
