December 26, 1936 ~ April 13, 2022

Charlie Virant has gained his wings and is now with the Lord. Charles “Charlie” or “Sonny” Virant, 85, of Harpersfield, passed away on April 13, 2022 in Euclid. Calling hours for friends and family will be 4pm-8pm on Monday April 18, 2022 at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St. in Madison.  A private funeral service will be held for the family the following day. Charlie was born in Studa, PA to Frank and Lenora Virant, on December 26, 1936.  He went to school in Geneva.  He married Martha (Holy) Virant on November 19, 1960 in Harpersfield. Charlie was one of the hardest workers, working in the family vineyard all the way up to this past Monday doing what he loved. Charlie grew not only a family throughout his 85 years, but a farm, winery, and table business. He founded the Virant Family Winery in 1998. He worked as a Dairy Farmer, Welch Grower, Geneva School Bus Driver, dug footers for cemetery headstones, and worked for Bentley Excavating. Charlie rested peacefully and can now take a well-deserved break before his next adventure.  He was a veteran and served in the Army Reserves. He was also involved in Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department and helped found the HVFD Beef Roast.  He can continue riding on his Oliver tractor greeting all the loved ones he’s missed and eating all his favorite sweets freely. Charlie has touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on forever. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and so much more to us all. Charlie is survived by his wife, Martha Virant; children, Kimberly (Marty) Deutsch, Lori Virant and Frank Sr (Holly) Virant; grandchildren, Amanda Dawes, Charlie (Jill) Deutsch, Frank Jr (Brittany) Virant, Joseph Virant and Jarrod Virant; great-grandchildren, Mason Dawes, Max Dawes, Bentley Deutsch, Henry Deutsch, Joseph Jr Virant, and soon to arrive Jack Virant.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lenora Virant. He will truly be missed but we know he will always be looking over us. We will continue to celebrate his glorious life. We will forever be grateful for the endless smiles, laughs and helping hands we got from Charlie. Donations can be made to Geneva Area Safety Forces: Share a Christmas or Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department, 5516 Cork Cold Springs Road, Geneva, Ohio, 44041.
