Charles V. "Charlie" Loomis

Charles V."Charlie" Loomis, age 93, of Ashtabula and formerly of Geneva, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at Country Club Retirement in Ashtabula. He was born May 19, 1920 in Welchfield, OH to Goldie (Murphy) & Orrison W. Loomis. Charlie married Thelma Murphy in Painesville on February 14, 1950.
Charlie worked for Liberty Bar in Painesville for 21 years, retiring in 1981. He also worked for Pera Motel in Geneva-on-the-Lake, was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club and a VFW associate member. Charlie enjoyed riding motorcycles locally and around the country, and boating and fishing with the family.
He is survived by daughter, Suzon (Mike) Drake of Kingsville, OH; sons, Burton Loomis of Mentor, OH, Charles (Sandy) Loomis Jr. of Mentor, OH; step-daughter, Roberta Gockerell of Geneva, OH; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; brother, Donald Loomis; step-daughter, Patricia Sherlock; step-son, Milton Custin and his parents.
Friends will be received 12:00 p.m.—2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Andrew Grimes of Geneva Church of the Nazarene will be officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson.
