Charles "Ike" Eisenhart

Charles Ike Eisenhart, age 83, of Perry passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Madison Healthcare. Born in Cleveland on June 10, 1934 he was the son of Maude (Green) and Charles Eisenhart. He married Suzanne Newton on April 23, 1960 in Geneva.
Ike was a 1953 graduate of Madison High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Madison community. In 1964, Ike joined the Painesville City Fire Department and retired from Painesville as a Captain in 1991. Ike then continued his service as the Fire Chief in Fairport Harbor for 10 years. He also worked part-time for the Madison Village Police Department for over 30 years. Being a hard worker, Ike was known and loved by many for his amazing sense of humor, as well as his loyalty to his friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on his 1941 John Deere "L".
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue; daughter, Amy (Anthony) Russo of Greenville, SC; son, Charles (Dodie) Eisenhart II of Perry; grandchildren, Brittany, Charles (Desiree Johnson), Gary Eisenhart, Dan Jr. (Sara), Zach (Michele), Josh, Joe (Judy) Toris; 14 great-grandchildren and brother, George (Cheryl) Eisenhart of Thompson along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Cornerstone Friends Church, 2300 Hubbard Road in Madison. Final resting place will be Perry Cemetery.

Dear Sue, Charlie, the nickname we had for him, was a treasured member of the Madison High School Class of '53. He never missed one of reunions or lunch get togethers!!
He will be affectionately remembered by all of us.

It was an honor and a privilege to serve under Captain “Ike” Eisenhart at Painesville City Fire Department. Capt. “Ike” defined the meaning “Old School”! He was not only a great officer but a true friend. Rest In Peace Sir. My condolences to the family.
