Charles “Chuck” “Sonny” Bonick, 81, of Thompson, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1942 to Charles and Elizabeth Bonick in Cleveland, Ohio. He married his loving wife of 60 years, Sally, on March 7, 1964.

Charles served in the military and later worked as a custom car manufacturer. He could do anything from custom paint jobs, fiberglass design, and metal fabricating to name a few of his many talents. His work has been seen in magazines, on t-shirts, and at countless car shows. People always knew he was the man to go to if they wanted something unique and unmatched. He was a lifetime member of the NSRA and a long time member of the Early Times Custom Car Club. He spent countless hours in his garage and always enjoyed when his friends would come to visit… as long as it was after noon. He always had a story to tell, and would bend your ear if you let him.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Kathy (Michael) McKeon, and Christine; grandchildren, Mikey, Elise and Brad; sister, Carol Mullen and brother-in-law, Louis Aliberti. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Delores (John) Miska and Charlotte Aliberti.

The family is doing a private cremation ceremony. Please join us for a celebration of life at Baci Winery, 7800 Warner Road, Madison, Ohio, Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please come with your hot rods, rat rods, muscle cars and funny stories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Chuck’s memory to his family.
