Carroll E. VanDyke, 87, of Madison, passed away, Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Golden Leaf Assisted Living in Madison.
Born March 21, 1922 in Geneva, Carroll had lived in Florida many years before moving back to Madison about 10 years ago. He was the son of Carroll M. and Martha Van Dyke.
Carroll graduated from Madison High in 1940. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force in World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His work history included the Ohio Rubber Company, USDA Conservation Service: Engineering & Survey Office; Blue Print Business, Home Construction Co., City Inspector, and Florida Master Gardener. He had a zest for life, respect for all growing things and a unique sense of humor.
Survivors include daughters, Carol & Linda of DeFuniak Springs, FL; sister, Lauretta (Lee) Gerwin of Venice, FL; brother, Clifford of Columbus, OH; seven Gerwin nephews; Aunt, Sara Hart of Madison; and a host of cousins and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald and his son, Gregory.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio.
