February 16, 1948 ~ June 3, 2024

Carol Sue Cecconi 76, beloved wife, mother, grammy, and friend passed away Monday, June 3, 2024 at Hillcrest Hospital. She was born February 16, 1948 in Niles, OH the daughter of Lowell and Johnnie (Garvin) Barker. Carol bravely battled many years of health challenges, which robbed her the ability to fully enjoy her golden years. Left behind to tell her story and share her memories are her devoted husband of 56 years Jim; her children Cindy (David) of Harpersfield, OH, Jimmy (Michelle) aka Baby Boy of Mentor, OH; and her greatest joys, her grandchildren, Kevin, Nathan, Connor, Eric, Avery, Chloe, and Bella. “I wanna sing with all my heart a lifelong song; Even if some notes come out right and some come out wrong”……….. Carol lived a life of no regrets. She was not perfect. Mistakes were made but never ignored. She simply used them to gain wisdom to make better choices than before. Her grandmother, Garvin was a beacon in her life and gave her the gift of believing in Jesus Christ. At a young age Carol chose to embrace all that was good and to change the things that were broken the best that she could. “Life is short; I wanna live it well, one life, one story to tell”. She met Jim in September of 1967 and they were married May 18, 1968. Do the math, two crazy kids, ready to take on the world, armed only with a blind faith and love for each other. Carol’s faith and their devotion for one another was the foundation of the wonderful life they built for their children. Her love for them was fierce, she prayed for them daily. Her children were always first until they started having grandbabies. Carol’s greatest accomplishments have nothing to do with her accolades. They have everything to do with the life that she made. She was the bright light that helped guide others. She loved to sing and dance. Humor was her favorite medicine. She enjoyed a good story and often cracked herself up. Her laugh was both loud and infectious. She was a friend to many and an example to most. Family, friends, and faith are the things she cherished. The love of her grandchildren dulled the burden of her disease, until the night she finally met Jesus bowed down on both knees. Carol was proceeded in death by her parents Lowell and Johnnie; step father, Roy Richards; sisters, Sally and Vickie; and brother, Roger. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a life time of friends. Our hearts are heavy, yet swollen with pride, for she fought the good fight with Jim by her side. Our family would like to take a moment to thank everyone that has sent their condolences, meals, and prayers. Friends will be received 4-7 pm Thursday, June 6th at Perry First Baptist Church, 3918 Main Street in Perry. Service will take place at 11 am on Friday June 7th Carol wished to be cremated and a private burial will take place at Perry Cemetery.
