Carol A. Sirl, age 81 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at UH Geneva Medical Center.  Born in Cleveland on May 30, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Grimshaw) Takacs.  She married James Sirl in Euclid on May 8, 1965. After graduating from Euclid High School in 1960 Carol studied for three years at the St. Alexis School of Nursing and spent her entire life in service to others as a Registered Nurse. She served with the Lake County Council on Aging for over 10 years. She volunteered with the Good Samaritans at St. Patrick’s Church. With a spunky, witty personality, people will always remember her smile and infectious laugh.  The family would like to send a special thank you to her Physicians Assistant, Kelly Gardner for her loving care and the wonderful staff at UH Geneva Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Patrick A. Sirl and Wendy Formberg; grandchildren, Quin and Keeghan; brothers Frank and Ken and sister, Mary. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 16550 Rock Creek Road in Thompson.  The family will receive guests from 10:00am to 11:00am at the church prior to the service. All are welcome to a reception immediately following the service at the church. To honor Carol’s vibrant personality the family asks guests to wear bright colors to her service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations made in Carol’s name to St. Patrick’s Church or Hospice of the Western Reserve. The Behm Family Funeral Home of Madison is assisting the family at this time. Online obituary and condolences may be viewed at www.behmfuneral.com “See you later alligator, afterwhile …….”

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My deepest condolences to family and friends on Mrs. Sirl’s passing. She was such a lovely, charming (and funny!) lady, who spent her life and career to help care for others. It seems like every time I was with her I experienced that wonderful laugh. Thoughts and prayers to the family and all who knew her…

  2. Mrs. Sirl was like a second mom to both of us. We were at the Sirl household more than our own house. Mrs. Sirl was one special lady and will be missed by all of us. Special prayers for her children Pat and Wendy, her husband Mr. Sirl, and her Grandkids! Shine with the stars Mrs. Sirl!

  3. Wishing peace and comfort to the entire family but especially Uncle Jim, Patrick, and Wendy. It has been several years since I have last seen any of you but know you are always in my heart. Memories of weekends at grandpa and grandma Takacs eating all day and ragging on the in-season Cleveland sports team or each other will always bring a smile to my face.

Love you Mike, Jill, Jake, Max, and Alex

  4. Jim and family,
Carol always had a smile and a special way to bring that and her humor to everyone. We grew up together (since 1949) and I can never remember her not being cheerful and outgoing. She will be truly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know her.
    Al (Butch) Klavora

  5. Jim, so sorry to read about Carol’s passing. I’ll always remember the fun on John’s trips. Carol always had such an amazing sense of humor. I’ll remember her always & keep you both in my prayers. Karen Malinowski
