Carl J. Fobell, 89, passed away on November 13, 2024. Born in Chesterland, Ohio on January 9, 1935, Carl was the fifth of eight children born to Arthur & Wilhelmina Fobell. He was Husband to his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane (Myers), Dad to sons Randy & Tim, Father-in-law (and so much more) to Annette & Diane, Grandpa to Josh (Desirae), Amy (Chris Purnell), Nick (Brandy), & Jonathan (Stefanie), and a Great Grandpa to Jaidyn, Kenton, Brendon, Sebastian, Easton, Nolan, Justus, Lance, Asher, Lincoln, & Ryker.
Carl spent most of his life living in the Geneva area with much of his childhood through teenage and most of his 20 something years living in his beloved Unionville. He graduated from Madison High School in 1953. He attended Max S. Hayes Trade School & apprenticeship program in Cleveland to become a journeyman carpenter and worked on large commercial & industrial building projects throughout his career until his retirement in 1999. He obtained his Ohio Realtor Salesman & Broker licenses and sold property as a member of the Miller Realty Company in the Geneva/Madison areas for many years. While living in Florida in the mid-1980’s, he worked as a Stock Broker for the Blinder Robinson Company. Carl was a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Ohio for over 50 years and was a past, long time member of the Geneva United Church.
Throughout the years, he used his carpentry talents to help numerous others. And when Carl and Mary Jane were not busy building or remodeling houses for themselves, he loved to build jigsaw puzzles or play card games with family & friends, especially Shang-hi Rummy and Bridge. In retirement, he made many different types of wooden clocks and pieces of furniture.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jane, brothers Ralph, Dick, Bill, & Bob, and sisters Ruth & Julie. He is survived by his sister Lolly, his sons & their wives, and all his grandkids and great grandkids.
The family is very appreciative and grateful for the loving care and assistance Carl was provided by the staffs of Cypress Hospice and The Enclave of Mentor, Ohio.
At Carl’s request, no calling hours will be observed. A grave side service for family and friends will be at 11:00AM on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Alexander Harper Cemetery in Unionville, Ohio.

Initially I met Mr. Fobell at Unionville Cemetery while he was visiting his wifes grave. My parents were directly to the left, we got to talking and found out her grew up with my father Lee B. Cornell. They had many great adventures together. Such a wonderful man, I will miss him.
