Captain Otto Buck, age 88, a lifelong resident of Geneva passed away peacefully Saturday, May 17, 2014. Born September 2, 1925 in Geneva, he was the son of Otto Captain and Norah (Loomis) Buck. He married Erna Schroeder in Geneva on Valentine's Day, 1948. Captain graduated from Spencer High School in 1944. He had a love of sports; lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. He was proud of his service to our country. He served in the European Theater as a Sergeant in United States Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Always ambitious and hardworking, Captain began his business endeavors once his service ended in the United States Army. He worked at and then ran the local Sunoco gas station and then further utilized this space to house his Hudson auto dealership. He then worked as the head of transportation for Geneva Schools for 10 years. Afterwards he owned and operated the Texaco gas station on East Main Street in Geneva. In 1974 he purchased Central Hardware in downtown Geneva which is still owned and operated by his family today. He was a longtime member of the Geneva Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, and St. John's Lutheran Church. Cap is survived by his wife of 66 years: Erna; Daughter Regina (Thomas) Korn of Conneaut Lake, PA, Son Charles (Elaine) Buck of Geneva; Grandchildren: Ted Korn of Conneaut Lake, PA, Lisa (Matt) Young of Martinsburg, WV, Michael (Tiffany Miller) Buck of Geneva and Benjamin Buck of Geneva; Great-Grandchildren: Skyler & Jake Young, Sam & Nathan Miller. He was preceded in death by his Parents The family would like to welcome friends to visit and celebrate Cap's life at 1:00pm Wednesday May 21st, 2014 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway in Geneva. A Memorial Service will directly follow at 2:00pm. Military services will take place immediately following at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
