Bruce C. Opdahl, 73, resident of Madison, Ohio, passed away May 31, 2017 at The Cleveland Clinic following lengthy illness. He was born August 13, 1943 in Cleveland to the late Raymond T. and Emma E. Opdahl. Bruce proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Following the military, he worked for Crawford Fitting Company for 18 years. Bruce later pursued his second career as a counselor to help those battling alcoholism and chemical dependency through the facilities at Lake Geauga Recovery Center. This position fulfilled his constant desire to help anyone in need. His friends and family will always remember his generous heart and acceptance of everyone. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Carole Opdahl (Hribar); son, Bruce C. Opdahl, Jr. of Willoughby; brother, Dennis (Judy) Opdahl of Mentor; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Lynette Petrovich and brother, Timothy Opdahl. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery in Madison Village.   4. Bc and Mrs opdal I will miss Mr opdal so much he was a big part of my childhood like a grandparent. My childhood was interesting because I lived next door. And he would take time from his day to teach me cool little things. Sorry for your loss he will always be remembered.

  5. So sorry to hear of your loss. Such great memories he gave us growing up. We cherished going out to “the farm” and the gentle manner of “Uncle Bruce.” So glad I had a chance to reminisce at my parents 50th anniversary party. He was a beautiful soul. He is in a better place, but this world is a lesser place with his passing. Prayers of sympathy and gratitude for having known him.

  10. Dear Carole (and family), I've just learned of Bruce's passing and I have to tell you how sorry I am. As you may remember Bruce was such a big help every year arranging our trip to The Abbey of Gethsemani. He was a big part of why that group of guys got started going down there every year. We missed him last year (the first time he didn't join us) because he wasn't well enough to go. I know that I'll miss him even more this year. We will definitely request that the monks get a bunch of prayers out to you and for him. God Bless you
