Blaine Clyde Burns, 78 passed away peacefully into the tender hands of God July 16, 2009. He was born on March 20, 1931 in Andover to Bertha M. (Cobb) & Clyde S. Burns He was a Thompson resident for 50 years. Devoted husband and best friend of Janet (Daniels) Burns, whom he married June 10, 1951. Loving father of daughters Charmin (Bud) Wolfe, of Madison, and Shawn (Tim) Buterbaugh, of Meyersdale, PA.; loving Grandfather of Christopher (Amanda) Wolfe, of Jacksonville, Fla,, Daniel Wolfe, of Madison, TJ, Cory and Lane Buterbaugh, of Meyersdale, PA.; loving brother of Norman (Jean) Burns, of Ashtabula, and Gerald Burns, of Andover. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Grandson Logan Buterbaugh and Sister, Beverly Rogers. A member of Thompson United Methodist Church. He retired from R.W. Sidley, Inc. in 1993 after 30 years of employment as an Operating Engineer. He served in the Marine Corps. during the Korean War Conflict. Blaine was a great guy and even through the many recent health challenges he faced his sense of humor never left him. He loved to travel, was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians & Cavaliers. His greatest joy was his family, and spent many enjoyable hours watching his grandsons? sporting events and activities. He will remain in the hearts of family and friends who loved him dearly. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 26 River Street in Madison. The Rev. Harley Wheeler of the Thompson United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Funeral Home in Madison. Burial will be at Maplegrove Cemetery in Thompson, Ohio. In lieu of flowers Blaine?s Family suggests contributions be made in his name to Thompson Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 37 Thompson, OH 44086.
