Surrounded by her loving family, Leroy’s Oldest Lady, Betty Mae Magyar, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 95 years young. Born March 9, 1926 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Elizabeth (Lewis) Tobias. She married the love of her life, Steven Victor Magyar in Painesville, on October 4, 1952. A 1944 graduate of Harvey High School, Betty went on to graduate in 1948 from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. She was a beloved School Nurse for the Perry School System for many years. Betty was a member of St. Mary's Church where she was active in the Christ Child Society and the Eucharistic Ministry. She was also a proud Charter Member of Leroy Fire Department Femme Flares. She loved to bake and decorate wedding cakes. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Ann (Tim) Stachiw of Leroy, Amy L. (Dave) Morgan of Tega Cay, SC; Claudia Magyar of Madison, Stephanie (Lenny) Luscher of Wilmington, NC; son, Chris (Teri) Magyar of Leroy; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Steven; her parents; and brother, David Tobias. Friends and family will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 242 N. State Street, Painesville. Fr. Stephen Vellenga will officiate the service. Final Resting Place will be Williams Cemetery in Leroy, Ohio. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192.
