Betty L Smith

Betty L. Smith, Age 77, resident of Thompson, Ohio since 1958, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 5, 2012 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born August 31, 1935 in Marietta to Louise (Nutter) & Martin Glenn Patterson; married Paul Smith, Sr. in Marietta, Ohio on November 21, 1954. Betty was Personnel Manager for R. W. Sidley from 1962-1982 and was secretary at Thompson United Methodist Church for 15 years. She was a member of Thompson United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women's Group, both at local and district and was a licensed lay speaker in the United Methodist Church. She served at McCurdy Methodist Mission School in Espinola, NM. Former member, secretary and membership chairman of ABWA. She was also a former member of American Society of Personnel Administrators and had worked at the Madison YMCA. She will be loved and missed dearly by many. She is survived by daughters, Debbie Cowger of Thompson Cherrie (Bob) Kinney of Geneva Son Paul (Sandy) Smith, Jr. of Roaming Shores Grandsons Brian (Crystal) Smith, Jason (Beth) Smith, Nicholas (Natalie) Smith, Adam Smith, Bobby (Sara) Kinney, Sean Smith 4 Great-Grandchildren Sister Crystal Ullum of Williamstown, WV Aunt Ruth Cox of Marietta, OH She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Smith, Sr., and her parents. Friends will be received 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Thursday, November 8, 2012, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, November 9, 2012, at Thompson United Methodist Church, 6758 Madison Rd., Thompson, Ohio. Final Resting Place will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Thompson.
