Janet “Betty” Elizabeth Woodworth, 92, a longtime Geneva resident, died July 11, 2020 at Saybrook Landing. She was born February 18, 1928 in Unionville to Joseph and Margaret (Kish) Peters. She married William C. Woodworth in Geneva on July 25, 1947, moved to Geneva, and purchased a 90 acre farm where they raised 6 children and one grandchild. Betty had a second career achieving her real estate license at the age of 49 (1977) and worked for Miller Realty Co. for many years. She was one of the top performing real estate agents. She was a charter member who along with her husband helped build the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved her gardens and cooked many meals from the vegetables she grew. The entire family has fond memories of time spent with grandma at the farm. Grandma’s door and kitchen were always open. She and her husband were founding members who along with several others helped build the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was active in the church serving in a leadership role. She took all of her children and grandchildren to the Seventh Day Adventist Church School in Ashtabula. She was passionate about providing a Christian education for her entire family. Betty is survived by her daughters, Charlene Woodworth of Rock Hill, SC, Linda (Jim) Gersin of Ashtabula, Carol (Dr. Mark) Elliott of Denver, CO, Elizabeth (Todd) Markovich of Highlands Ranch, CO and Sarah (Doug) Diehl of Perry, and son William C. Woodworth, Jr. of Geneva. Grandchildren; Priscilla Smith, Jill Moss, Elizabeth Moss, John Joseph Winnen, Michael Woodworth, Rick Adam Woodworth, Dr. Michael Brown, Mark Elliott, Jeffrey Elliott, Todd (LT) Markovich, Julie Markovich, Marlee Brenkus, Rachel Cooke. Great grandchildren: Alex, Addison, Alyssa, John, Skylar, Angelina, Clifton, Jaylene, Andrew, Gabriel, Roman, Isaiah, Lucy, Amelia, Levy, Leia, Niko; and Great Great Grandchildren, Rashad, and Camilia. She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Woodworth in 2007, her parents Margaret and Joseph Peters, her siblings Marge Tyler, Julie Cowles, Anne Disberger, Helen Connor, Joe Peters, and grandson Delbert (Pete) Moss. A Memorial Service will be 2:30 pm Friday June 18, 2021 at Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church, 725 East Main St. in Madison followed by interment at Alexander Harper Memorial Cemetery, Unionville, OH.   1. Back in 1982 Betty very carefully but with absolutely no advance planning, made it possible for me to get re-acquainted with a Spencer guy I had not seen for 25 years, who within a year became my husband. All those years later, we both often wonder if she ever knew what she had accomplished!
