Bessie Gillispie
November 19, 1934 ~ April 21, 2019
Bessie Gillispie, age 84 passed away April 21, 2019. She was born November 19, 1934 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia to Simon and Anna Turner.
Bessie was a wonderful mother and totally dedicated to her family and friends. She loved cooking for everybody and became known as the “Betty Crocker” of the neighborhood. Her most favorite and special times were celebrating the holidays with loved ones - especially Christmas – enjoying the feasting, game playing, decorations and all those angels and lights – WOW! With a unique personality, people often referred to her as “Bossy Bessie” because she was strong willed and not afraid to speak her mind. If it was “on her mind” it was “out of her mouth”! She was a constant joker; she loved people and loved to sit and talk.
Bessie leaves behind her children, Anna (Roby Whelpley) Gillispie, Timothy (Darla) Gillispie, Malinda (Lawrence) Sobe, Adolfo Castillo, Sara Oquendo; grandson, Timothy Gene Gillispie; great-grandchild, Xavier Gillispie; and sister, Anna Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Gillispie; son Gene G. Gillispie; parents, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday April 26, 2019 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Rick Hughes. Final resting place will be Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
