Bernice Volpone

Bernice “Cricket” Volpone, age 95 of Geneva, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Rae-Ann Geneva Skilled Nursing and Rehab. She was born October 26, 1928 in Iron City, TN, the daughter of the late John and Bell (Olive) Sledge.
With an eye for fashion Cricket worked as a Sales Clerk for Carlisle’s in Madison and then Peebles. An active member of Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva she helped prepare the Festival Dinners and the grape pies for the Grape Jamboree. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns and of course, The Ohio State Buckeyes.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Johnson and Danise (Michael) Gentene; grandchildren, Dan (Shelley) Johnson, Michelle (Rob) Miklavcic, Philip (Crystal) Johnson, Scott (Suezanne) Gentene and Jamie (Marc) Thompson; great grandchildren, Nick, Anthony, Joey, Rylee, Julia, Brittany, Abby, Natalie, Matthew, Scarlett, Madison, Cody, and Connor along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Volpone; her parents, her three sisters and son-in-law Vern Johnson.
Cricket’s family and friends are invited to the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva for a time of visitation from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12pm at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 West Main Street in Geneva. Final Resting Place will be Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Kingsville.
