In Loving Memory, Barbara Ann Brainard, 77, of Dorset, Ohio, passed away August 24, 2016 in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was born on February 3, 1939 in Painesville, Ohio. Barb is survived by her loving and devoted husband D. James Brainard of Dorset, Ohio (and formerly Perry, Ohio). Barb and Jim enjoyed 55 years of marriage. She also leaves behind sons, Thomas (Karen) Brainard and Patrick Brainard, and daughters, Tari (Baron) Medvec, Anne Liddy and Katie Brainard. "G-ma" will be missed by her 11 grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Cassandra, Craig, Patrick, Michael, David, Adam, Caleb, Hannah and Kelsey and great-grandson, Xavier. She is predeceased by two infant brothers, her father, Glenn Kelsey; and mother, Phyllis (Gullo) Kelsey. Barb's family is grateful to have enjoyed her as the matriarch of her loving family. She will be missed by friends and family alike for the gatherings where her amazing meals (with pies!) and stories were shared. While raising her five children in Perry, Ohio she was an active volunteer in the Lake County 4-H and she was a bus aide for Perry Local Schools. Since moving to Dorset, Ohio she helped raise two grandsons and worked over 25 years during tax season at H&R Block, helping people file their taxes right up until this past tax season. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Friends will be received 2 3 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio with a Funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Final Resting Place will be Perry Cemetery in Perry, Ohio. During this time of need, memorial contributions may be made to the Brainard family.
