Arvina E. Anthony

Arvina E. Anthony, age 87, of Geneva, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born October 6, 1928 in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Joe and Ethel (Merriman) McFadden. She was later adopted by George and Leota Eastman. Arvina married Ralph W. Anthony, Jr. on June 7, 1953 in Dorset.
Arvina was a 1949 graduate of Rock Creek High School. She was a cook at Broadway Nursing Home retiring in 1994. She was a member of Geneva First United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, crocheting and writing her own history.
She loved reading, crossword puzzles, and watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians whenever her favorite sport, roller derby, was not on the television. She enjoyed watching Johnny Carson. She had a close relationship with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren often watching them play in their various sports and activities. Her greatest achievement was raising her young children on her own and helping each to find happiness in their lives. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Debbie) Anthony of Conneaut; daughter, Patricia Brown of Ashtabula; daughter, Carol (Greg) Shaffer of Geneva; daughter, Sandra (Michael) Anthony-Iosue of New Jersey; son, Ralph (Dana) Anthony of North Carolina; sister, Joy (Donald) Pickersgill of Fairview Park; and by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Nelson; her parents, natural parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Geneva First United Methodist Church, 89 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Bruce Hitchcock will be officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio
