Arun Jacob

Arun Jacob, aged 46, passed away on Sunday February 26, 2023. He was born in Pathanapuram- Kerala, India to late Muruppel Varghese Chacko and late Alamma Geevarghese. He was deaf. Inspite of that, he had won the hearts of all the people around, by his charismatic and helpful nature. He was always on fire for the deaf, to be their source of help, financially and in every other way possible including training them for their daily lives and for their work.
Arun graduated in 2001 with a Certificate from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary for Chronological Bible Storying. He worked as a trainer for the Deaf Leadership and Video Editing Director from 2002-2008 in India, Budapest, Thailand and the US. The deaf remember Arun for his joy, contagious laughter, and his gift for storytelling. From 2009 to present, Arun had taught Bible Storying online to the deaf people in India. He was gifted in explaining bible passages, so that the deaf people could also teach it to others. People also loved Arun singing songs as he sang (signed) it so visually. Arun also served as a Pastor at Deaf for Jesus Ministries in Long Island, NY for 5 ½ years. In all this Melissa, his wife was his backbone.
Arun married Melissa Scott on November 25, 2004 (also deaf and who had the great vision for the deaf) and the two served together, faithfully as missionaries, even until now. They had recently relocated to Ohio.
Arun leaves behind his wife, Melissa: sons, Nathanael and Jeremiah; and daughter, Rebekah; mother-in-law Patricia Penvose; sister Amritha (Juby Pappan) and their sons Joshua and Dan, brother Ajil Jacob (Tisha) and daughter Erryn Elsa; brother-in-law Kelly Scott and daughter Cameron and son Kyle.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Behm Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. Visiting hours are on Friday March 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with services immediately following at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.

We have never met Arun, but we have known him to be an amazing husband of Melissa who we have known for so many years since our time in Rochester, NY. Arun was also a loving and dotting father of three children. His passing was so unfortunate because it’s untimely. However, we know that he is with the Lord whom he loved so dearly.
