Resident of Perry, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at home in Perry, Ohio.
Born February 6, 1920 in Hiram, Ohio, to Amine (Tyler) & Theodore Smith.
Married Darle Stillman on January 26, 1946
He was a charter member of the Perry Kiwanis. Served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant in the Third Armored Division-Spearhead during World War II serving at the Battle of the Bulge. Worked at Rayon and later retired from Coe Manufacturing. Loved spending time gardening and tending his fruit trees. He also enjoyed making macrame lawn chairs.
He is survived by
2 Daughters, Ellen Chapman of Perry,
and Phyllis (Tony) Allegretto of Ashtabula
4 Grandchildren, Jaime (Lee) Lutes of Perry, Jim (Shelley) Kertcher of Perry,Lisa (Terrance) Burney of Brazil
and Amy (Dan) Jones of Buckhanon, WV;
10 Great Grandchildren, Michael and Kendra Lutes Clint, Kayleigh, James, and Luke Kertcher
Brendon and Zachary Burney Abigail and Alayna Jones
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darle (Stillman) Smith in 2006; his parents and brothers and sisters, Paul, Ethel, Daisy, Bud, Nettie, Harold, Dolly, Nelson, Floyd Donald & Raymond.
Friends will be received 10-11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Perry United Methodist Church, 3875 Main St., Perry, Ohio. Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Keith Mostad will be officiating.
Final Resting Place will be at Perry Cemetery.
