You made the best poticas ,you will be missed ! prayers
I remember Ponnie’s Potica ! May memories hold you up. Sending love and light.
Ms. Ponnie, you were the best babysitter a girl ever had. Your warmth and kindness has been with me ever since. In a time when the world wasn’t so friendly, you made sure I came home from school to your big smile and a delicious meal. Our talks about real butter and music and curios still stick in my mind. I’m so grateful and thankful Gods will was to have some time with you. I hope you know how much you changed the world by your impression on me. I pray that as long as I’m living, the world can meet a bit of you and your golden soul. Rest in peace to the incomparable Ms. Ponnie. Your candle will be lit in peace and love, just like you.
To Ponnie’s Family-
Sending my condolences to the family. Ponnie was very helpful in arranging help for my homebound dad with her friend Ralph and later on took on many tasks herself including taking me to the airport in the early morning hours. I will be forever grateful for her kindness. My family and I enjoyed her delicious potica for many years and it is still greatly missed during the holidays. May she rest in peace after a well-lived life.
in 2013 I met a special friend, Mrs. Ponnie Davis. She had heard about that D-Day event in Ohio and called me to volunteer to help with the Veteran Program. Over the course of the next couple of years Ponnie and I became good friends and I even stayed over at her home a couple of times.
In her basement she made the best Italian pizzelles that were the talk of Cleveland for many years. She also made the best nut rolls I ever tasted in my life and a huge loaf was finished off in about 30 seconds by my Navy Beach Battalion unit…. Not a single crumb was left…
She was truly one of a kind, baking of course, helping veterans, and always lending an ear to sometimes this bewildered man searching for straight forward and spot on advice.
A number of years ago this beautiful soul had a stroke. Although I did visit with her a couple of times since, my last visit just before covid, I will never ever forget her personality, wit, humor, and charm. You can see what sort of person she was in every picture she was in. That infectious smile regardless of the hurtles before her.
When Kathy called me and told that Ponnie left this world to heaven above, my mind quickly reverted back to a conversation I had with Ponnie while sitting in her kitchen a number of years ago. “You know, I might be alone, but I am never lonely.” and that message has stuck with me ever since. With that, and the path we either chose or were a part of via the circumstances of life, in a way we were kindred spirits.
Rest in peace dear Ponnie… I thank you, for everything you brought into my life, friendship first, and especially, your advice and loving spirit which will continue to guide me for the rest of my days…. Til we meet again…
