Andrew Frederick Boomhower

Andrew Frederick Boomhower, age 90, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013. He was born September 20, 1922 in Geneva to Sarah (Brophy) & Andrew B. Boomhower and married Beverly Banks on January 15, 1949 in Geneva.
Andy was a general contractor for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva. Andy proudly served as a Sergeant in the 117th Infantry Regiment in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre including the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardenne's Battle of the Bulge and was a member of Geneva VFW Post 6846, American Legion 124 and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by sons, Andrew F. (Cheryl) Jr. of Ravenna, OH, Martin (Mary) of Kingsville, OH, Jonathan L. of Geneva; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Mary Konieg of Warren, OH, Jane Conacher of Harpersfield Township, OH, Jean Mononen of Conneaut, OH; brothers, Frank Boomhower of Chicago, IL
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly in 1991; infant daughter, Lois; parents; daughter-in-law, Emmy Lu (Berkopec) Boomhower; sisters, Margaret, Anna Mae Boomhower, Rita Gress, Helen Thompson; brother, Wilson Boomhower
Friends will be received 4-7 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2013, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 21, 2013, at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 West Main Street, Geneva, Ohio with Rev. Melvin Rusnak officiating. Final Resting Place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
