Alexander Carl Taipale

Alexander Carl Taipale, beloved son of Rosemary and John Taipale, passed away in a tragic airplane accident on June 20, 2026, at the age of 40.
Raised in Orwell, Ohio, Alex grew up on his family’s farm alongside his three brothers, Jon, Jim, and Scott. He graduated from Grand Valley High School before attending Youngstown State University, where he studied Vocal Performance and Criminal Justice.
Alex possessed a natural gift for music that touched everyone who knew him. An accomplished pianist and gifted vocalist, he found great joy in performing and sharing his talents with others. Alex shared his love of music and frequently returned to his alma mater to mentor young band members, inspiring the next generation of musicians with his passion and encouragement.
After graduating from college, Alex dedicated himself to public service. He began his career as a deputy with the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department and, following in his father’s footsteps, also served his community through Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Alex was ambitious and committed to serving his community and his nation. He enlisted in the Army, where he trained as a Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot and served as a Warrant Officer for seven years. His integrity, loyalty, and dedication through military service exemplified the values he lived throughout his life.
Alex loved flying, both professionally and as a hobby. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked at Cuyahoga County Airport. He continued his military service by enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve. Alex took great pride in serving his country and never lost his dream of returning to professional flying. His love of aviation reflected his adventurous spirit and determination.
Above all, Alex will be remembered as a friend to everyone. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Rosemary Taipale; his three brothers, James (Elizabeth) Nemecek, Jon (Sarah) Nemecek, and Scott (Alicia) Taipale. Alex took great pride in his role as uncle to Mikayla, Kaden, Luke, Sam, Nolan, Lincoln, Noelle, and Delaney. Alex passed away with his father, John. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Beverly Taipale, and Marian and Carl Meyer.

The Taipale family will hold a Celebration of Life to honor Alex’s memory. The Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Assembly of God, 1961 LaFever Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Military honors will be rendered in recognition of Alex’s faithful and honorable service to our nation. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Montville Cemetery, Rt. 528.
