Alexander A. Andrews, age 92, of Madison, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Rae-Ann in Geneva. He was born June 5, 1921 in Cleveland, the son of Angelo & Mary Andrews. He married Evelyn Pepper on May 8, 1946 in Jackson, MS.
A 1939 graduate of Collinwood High School, he served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Geneva and a charter member of the American Legion Post 601 in Madison. He retired as a supervisor in 1985 from TRW. An avid sports fan, Al was a true family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Kind-hearted and generous, he enjoyed doing things for others.
Alexander is survived by daughters, Marjorie Hartshorn of Madison, Pat (Jim) Roberts of Madison, Cathy (John) Agapetus of Phoenix, AZ; son, Al (Kathy Vanatta) Andrews of Madison; grandchildren, Lynn (Tony) Chicarell of Madison, Mark Hartshorn of Madison, Beth (Don) Durdella of Painesville, Jessica (Darren) Howard of Los Angeles, CA, Nichole (Josh) Andrews-Kujala of Madison; great-grandchildren, Joey & Mia Durdella of Painesville, Jacob, Ethan, & Emma Kujala of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; brothers, Nick, Steve, Jim and Georgie; sisters, Georgia and Mary.
Friends will be received 11 AM – 12 Noon Monday, September 30, 2013, at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon. Final Resting Place will be at North Madison Cemetery in Madison.
