Albert "Al" J. Winfield, 70, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family January 7, 2017. Al was born March 31, 1946 in Painesville, Ohio. He married the love of his life Brenda Stacy, in Painesville, on May 6, 1972. After graduation from Harvey High School, Al attended Texas A&M for his fire training. Over the years, he worked for the Lake County Sherriff's Department for 10 years, and then worked at Lubrizol for 20 years before his retirement in 1995. Mr. Winfield was a true "character" with a classic sense of humor. He enjoyed people and making them laugh, he was known for his wise cracks, and always had a prank joke or comment up his sleeve. He was an avid fisherman, he loved to teach people how to fish, but most of all he enjoyed the quality time and memories created with his boys. Al was a talented woodworker who made many pieces of furniture for his family over the years. Most of all, Al enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Mr. Winfield is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda; sons, Jeff (Leslie) Winfield and Jeremy (Kelly) Winfield; grandchildren, Haylee and Hunter Winfield; sister, Susie (Dave) Ostrowski; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, George Winfield; and mother, Evelyn Hoffacker. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10 am at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
