John Alexander Patfield

With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of John Alexander Patfield, who left us on July 22, 2026, at the age of 60. John was born on October 10, 1965, in Cleveland, OH, to Dr. Jorge Medina, and Francis Patfield.

John spent most of his early life in Ohio, graduating from Mentor High School, and continuing on to work as a maintenance supervisor. He started his first business, Commercial Truck, in 1994. However, that was only the beginning of his career endeavors. John received his certification to become a firefighter and EMT in 1997, and proceeded to work in multiple Ohio fire departments all while running his full-time business. In 2013, John moved to Florida to escape the cold frost of Ohio’s winters, and continued his career as a maintenance man at Boca Raton Fire Department. Eventually, he left that job to work for Matheny Fire and Emergency as an operations manager.

John was a huge family man. His family was of the utmost importance to him, and he adored spending time with them in any way he could. He had a huge heart, and always wanted to make sure that those he loved had everything they needed. Memories and experiences were everything to him–some of his favorites being the good ol’ days of riding his motorcycle in the summer heat.

He is survived by his daughter, Taylor Patfield; son, Brandon Patfield; fiancee, Dorothy Daniele; and half-sister, Lannie Medina.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his half-sister, Cindy Patfield.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 10AM-1PM at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, 3800 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311.
