This is a beautiful tribute to Virgie. She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. I loved watching the interactions with kids at Redbird. She always had time for any child who needed her. I will remember her fondly and am so grateful that we were friends. Barbara Faulkner
John Hazel left a message on October 14, 2021:
I am a forever fan of Mrs. Grimm as she shared her passion for teaching with me as a student of English in Perry, Ohio’s Middle School in the middle of the 1960s. My name is John Hazel and I live in New Jersey with my wife Michelle and two daughters. I graduated from Perry High School in 1969. My tribute to Mrs. Grimm follows: Mrs. Grimm is undoubtedly a “Top Five” Teacher of mine from The 1960s Perry Local School District. She taught English at a key time in my life when I was just beginning to learn critical thinking. Everything she taught revolved around that key theme. When she assigned us Journal Writing, I literally had to read a daily newspaper. The Painesville Telegraph or The Cleveland Plain Dealer, were always available thanks to my Mom and Dad. I also had to watch and listen to daily network News Programs—like The CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. After fully digesting these two media, I was required to write a daily journal to chronicle what key points I had gleaned. Mrs. Grimm would voraciously read the journal and offer her written evaluations back to me. Her comments were always spot on!!! Boy, did I learn critical thinking!!! And, I am forever indebted to Mrs. Grimm for her intellect, insight and inroads made in teaching critical thinking and communications to teenagers! I owe her a lot—both professionally and personally! What wonderful memories of such a great mentor!!! May she rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.

Kelly, your mom was one of my favorite teachers. I loved talking to her when she attended the all class reunions. We would recall our memories of the herb fair at Champions. Peace to you and your family. Linda & Gene Warfield
