Susan Treen left a message on August 17, 2020:
To Scott's family, I was privileged to be one of Scott's circle of friends. Scott was a multitalented gentleman who displayed all the attributes that make the world a better place. He made many people's lives richer by sharing his love of music. He patiently taught me how to play the mountain dulcimer, encouraging me to develop my own style. Thank you, Scott. You will be greatly missed by all who love you.

I met Scott when he transferred into VR-24 Detachment, NAF Naples, Italy in 1964-65 (don't remember which). We quickly became friends and spent many hours talking, drinking, and taking in the sights of Italy. I had hoped to visit him after the service but he went back to Ohio and I went to Alaska and a lot of other places, however, our paths never crossed again. He was a good friend and an excellent shipmate, the world is less without him. My condolences to his daughters and their families. I add a photo of Scott when we visited Pompeii when the world was young and our futures boundless.
